Extended BASE LAYER line for the cold season

The BASE LAYER products in the ESSENTIAL line sit like a second skin and complement the GORE RUNNING WEAR® skin-to-shell concept. For the keen runner, the BASE LAYER products deliver an additional layer of comfort by ensuring the garment feels dry and comfortable against the skin. For the transitional phase between seasons and the winter, the line has been extended to include six functional long-sleeved shirts for women and men, with and without a WINDSTOPPER® liner, to answer the needs of a wide variety of running requirements. As usual, the design is simple and functional.

The secret lies in the material
Polypropylene forms the basis of all the products in the BASE LAYER line. It is the material's special properties that make it so valuable: it is the lightest fibre in the world, it feels comfortable against the skin and its antibacterial action help to reduce the formation of body odour. Since polypropylene does not absorb moisture, it is immediately passed through to the layer worn above. The result is a completely dry BASE LAYER which helps prevent the loss of body heat and lies comfortably against the skin.

Perfectly equipped for every climate
All BASE LAYER products are available in two different versions:
The functional polypropylene underwear is ideally suited for use on wind free days.
To help ensure your body does not cool down on windy and cold days, long-sleeved shirts with a windproof and breathable WINDSTOPPER® liner have also been introduced. It offers an extremely light and versatile combination of fast moisture removal and protection against wind chill.

The product specialists at GORE RUNNING WEAR® know what keen runners need. Warm and climate regulating functional underwear is vital, especially in the winter. Three different ESSENTIAL long sleeved shirts have thus been added:

ESSENTIAL Functional Shirt Long
The long-sleeved shirt stands for an exact fit and reliable removal of moisture. Like the summer BASE LAYER products, thanks to the fabric's elasticated and softly brushed peach skin like texture, the shirt feels pleasant against the skin and offers a high degree of comfort. Like all BASE LAYER products, the long sleeved shirt has an antibacterial effect and helps to prevent the formation of body odour.

ESSENTIAL Functional Turtleneck
This practical long sleeved shirt consists of the same material as that used in the summer BASE LAYER shirts, though because of its long sleeves and the attached high collar it stores more heat and is thus ideal for the cold season. The incorporated front zip with semi-lock slider makes the top easier to put on and take off, and can if required be worn open necked. 

ESSENTIAL Functional Thermo Shirt Long
The highly functional long-sleeved shirt is ideal on very cold winter days. In the Functional Thermo Shirt the basic material polyproplyene is thicker than in the two other versions and displays thermal properties. The low weight materials create the ideal heat and have an insulating effect.

BASE LAYER products in the ESSENTIAL autumn/winter 2011/12 line will be available from August 2011 in selected specialist shops.
